Lisa Walker started archery as a weekend hobby. She and her husband were looking for something new to do. Little did she know it would take her around the world wearing the silver fern. Lisa is a New Zealand women’s compound archer. She approaches the sport with curiosity, determination, and respect for the process. Through Lisa on the Line, Lisa shares the real side of the sport - the training blocks, the mindset work, and the small improvements that add up over time.
Lisa was a member of the Archery New Zealand team from 2018 to 2022. She has represented New Zealand at World Cups, World Championships, and the World Games. She describes these experiences as a huge honour. She also sees them as powerful lessons in what high performance really takes.
Over the years, Lisa has worked hard for results in New Zealand and overseas. In 2019, she won gold at the IFAA World Indoor Archery Championships and became World Champion. She has also won national titles, including New Zealand National Target Champion. She has earned gold medals in team and mixed team events. She has also stood on the podium in matchplay, indoor, and field events. Lisa has competed at the Oceania Championships too, where she won gold and silver medals. She’s proud of these moments, but she’s honest about the fact that they come from the work. For her, it’s about steady training, good preparation, and staying focused under pressure.
Lisa’s contribution to archery also extends beyond her own shooting. In 2023, she coached the New Zealand national team at the World Youth Championships. She later served as Archery NZ National Coach (Compound) from 2024 to 2025. She is also proud to have set up the Silver Arrows, a training and development squad for high performance archers. Coaching strengthened her love for the sport. It also deepened her passion for helping athletes trust their process.
Now, Lisa is returning fully to being a shooter again. She brings the perspective of coaching and the humility of starting fresh. She is focused on learning and improving every step of the way.
