AAS Development Program
The AAS Development Program is designed for archers who have completed a beginner course, own their own equipment, and are ready to continue developing their skills in a supportive and structured environment.
This program provides ongoing coaching, practical experience, and exposure to different styles of archery and competition formats. Sessions are suitable for archers who want to improve technique, gain competition knowledge, and experience a wider range of archery disciplines.
Program Overview
- Open to archers who have completed a beginner course
- Archers must have their own equipment
- Sessions held twice per month
- Each session runs for approximately 2 hours (10am-12pm)
- Minimum of 3 participants required for a session to proceed
- Coaching locations will vary depending on:
- The coach running the session
- The content being taught
- Venue availability and weather conditions
A variety of experienced coaches may lead sessions throughout the program, allowing archers to learn from different coaching styles and areas of expertise.
Potential Training Locations
Training venues will vary depending on the session content, coach, and venue availability. Sessions may be held at different archery clubs, indoor ranges, outdoor venues, field archery courses, or other suitable training locations when required.
What Archers Will Learn
The AAS Development Program aims to broaden both practical shooting ability and archery knowledge, including:
- Technique development and shooting improvement
- Equipment setup and tuning guidance
- Provide technical guidance on equipment use, teaching them how to use the same equipment in different competitions.
- Competition preparation and scoring
- Understanding different archery rules and formats, including:
- Archery New Zealand
- World Archery (WA)
- NZFAA
- IFAA
- Other competition formats where applicable
- Field archery experience and outdoor shooting opportunities
- Range safety and competition etiquette
- Goal setting and personal development
Some sessions may include visits to different clubs, field courses, or special training environments to provide broader archery experience.
Uniform Requirement
All participants are required to have an official AAS Development Program shirt (Cost $30) when attending sessions and events.
